small things
Sometimes working on a smaller scale, in the form of a model or maquette, helps physically articulate an idea. As side routes, these small but meaningful sculptures, drawings, and artists' books I created from 2011-2013 as models for my own studio explorations and, in many instances, left as gifts within the participatory installations of artist Christian Schmit (a former neighbor and MFA classmate) from 2011-2013. In subsequent years, Schmit has continued to incorporate many of my small works in several of his two-person and solo exhibits. What follows are process shots from my studio as well as examples of my work intermingled in Schmit's installations.
